Gluten Free Playdough

I love to find ways to encourage Bishop’s imagination and creativity and playdough is a great tool for that.  Because we are gluten free at our house I wanted to be sure to give him a safe version to play with so I made our own.  It was so easy!  You will need:

  • 1/2 cup corn starch
  • 1/2 cup rice flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 tsp cream of tarter
  • 1 tsp olive oil or any other cooking oil
  • optional: a couple drops of food coloring, flavoring such as vanilla or essential oils

IMG_4008 Mix all ingredients together over low heat.  After five minutes you will be able to start forming a ball.

IMG_4014 Remove from heat and let ball cool.  Keep refrigerated in a plastic bag.

Here’s Bishop enjoying and not enjoying the finished product.
