beach trip {part 2}

My favorite part of our beach trip was surprisingly not the beach.  It's hard work when you have two little ones.  Bishop was completely fearless of the water and refused to wear a life jacket so we had to be on top of him  the whole time and Lyric after plopping face first into the sand was not a happy camper.  I even heard myself saying "it's just too sandy!"  Well, duh...what did I expect? Don't get me wrong I loved being near the water but it didn't have the effect on my blood pressure like I hoped it would.

My favorite part of our trip was exploring the little villages on our bikes. We stayed in Seacrest, Florida which is sandwiched between two of the most beautiful beachside communities I've ever seen. I'd stick the babies in the back of the bike and ride all around Rosemary and Alys Beach. They are a far cry from the commercialized beaches you often see in Florida. Each area is unique with a real feel of community. I miss it terribly there and look forward to going back.

1st day of "school"

Photobucket

Bishop had his first day of school this week.  Well, I should say his 1st day of mother's day out but we've been talking all summer to him about how he's starting "school" and how much fun it will be.  I let him pick out his backpack and put stickers on his new lunch box.  He was really excited about it but a little disappointed that he wouldn't be riding a school bus and I was disappointed that this was the best picture he'd let me get of his 1st day!

The program we have him is called Promiseland and is at our church, Fellowship Bible.  We chose to do one day a week this year to ease him into it. But he did so well we could have done two days and I'm wishing now that we had!  I'm looking so forward to all that he'll learn over the year, new friends that he will make and watching him grow in faith with the Lord.

{first taste}

This weekend Lyric had her first taste of food! It was oatmeal and bananas. I didn't puree anything, I just gave her small little bites that she could play with and pop in her mouth herself. She wasn't too impressed though. It went something like this...

Wow! What a neat chair, thanks mom you're the best!

Hmmm, what's this?

Photobucket

YUCK! This is disgusting!!!

Photobucket

This is so uncool, what was my mom thinking feeding me this mush?!

Hey bro, did you just see what happened?
Um yeah..are you done with that seat now?

Photobucket

Heeheehee...it's mine, all mine!

Photobucket

Yes, I'm sure that was exactly the way it happened. Maybe we'll have better luck with the avocado tonight.

all aboard!

There is an old train depot not far from us that we've passed by often but never had a chance explore.  Today with some time to kill we stopped off,  much to Bishop's delight!  You should have seen his face light up when he saw the old train and then when he realized that he could actually climb aboard it.  What is it with boys and trains?!  When I helped him onto it he got a little nervous at first but quickly became comfortable and wanted to see every inch of it!

never a shortage of kisses...

When my dear sweet nieces are around there is never a shortage of kisses.  I adore those girls for the way they've mothered and loved on both my babies.  They will make fine mamas one day and then I'll get to love on their babies.  What a blessing that will be!

being two

This guy hasn't been getting much face time on here lately so I thought I'd correct that....

it's not because I don't love him more than I could ever articulate...

or because he's chopped liver now that his sister is here...

it's because this two and a half year old is well...two

which means he's got us on a roller coaster...

one minute he's my sweet angel happy being photographed...

and the next minute you better watch out because he's had enough!

my instagrams...

 Here are some of my favorite snapshots using instagram, it's my favorite iPhone camera app.  I rarely carry my camera around anymore because I can just snap a picture with my phone, edit it and post in on twitter and Facebook in no time.  How did I ever survive without a good camera phone?!
