Today I am 41 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I really thought that I would have had my baby girl by now but once again I am being reminded that I can not control everything in my life. It's good to be reminded of this at times but also very frustrating for a planner like me.
So far Lyric has outsmarted every attempt I've made to naturally induce labor. Here are some things I've tried...
- eating 2 lbs of pineapple
- eating eggplant parmesan
- bouncing on my birthing ball
- drinking a castor oil cocktail
- having membranes swept
- howling at a full moon (just kidding on that one but it was a full moon last night)
- lots of mall walking
- spicy food
- evening primrose oil
- red raspberry leaf tea
- acupressure
Lyric is perfectly content on staying cozy in my belly (she must know we have more snow heading our way tonight) but as we approach the 42nd week my midwife wants me to be induced. As much as it pains me to have my birth plan thrown out the window I respect her opinion and I will not be so stubborn about going natural that I may put my baby's safety at risk. If she does not come on her own in the next few days then I will be induced this Sunday at 7:30 in the morning. Even though I have waited for this day for so long I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that she will be here soon and our little family will be complete. Oh, how I love her already. Please say a prayer for a safe delivery and a healthy baby. Next time I blog it will be announcing her arrival!

Saying a prayer for a healthy baby and mama.
You look great!! I'm so excited for you that this will all end in a lovely, squishy baby girl SOON!!
Some thoughts,
Curb walking can help. If not to induce labor, it can certainly get your hips shifting and move that baby down into your pelvis. (or in my case, break my water!)
Also, maybe this is the time to talk to your midwife about blue and black kohosh. They are very potent herbs usually used for menstrual cramps, but for a pregnant woman can bring on very strong contractions. My WEWH midwife was hesitant about me using them before 40 weeks, but if it's that or pitocin, they might be a great choice.
Also, if you do end up being induced on Sunday, see if you can try something before pitocin since I imagine your Bishop Score is through the roof, something else might be a better tipping point than going straight for the pit. I have seen a *very* small dose of Cytotec (orally or placed on your cervix) be all it takes. Or perhaps even just breaking your water.
Whatever happens, I'm just so excited for you! (And so sorry the cocktail didn't work out - was it horrible?)
You're going to do great!

Have you tried evening primrose oil and red raspberry leaf tea? I used both toward the end of my last pregnancy and I swear it helped. Praying for your delivery and healthy baby!!
Bushels of prayers and love, gorgeous Melon.
Prayers for you and your delivery! Can't wait to 'meet' your precious baby girl!
Lots of prayers coming your way!!! It is so exciting!!! I am so looking forward to seeing photo's of her beautiful face... with her smiling and proud mama!
Thank you everyone! I have a couple more to add to the list that I forgot I'd tried. Raechel I think I am going to ask them to break my water first and see what happens, that's a great suggestion!
And Raechel the castor oil was the sickest thing I have ever tasted! I got some contractions from it but they went away by the morning. I don't regret trying it though b/c I would have always wondered if it could have worked.
Baby girls are so much fun! Congratulations to you. She'll be here before you know it. :)
