Is it me...or does this cloth diaper make my butt look big?

If you aren't familiar with cloth diapering it can be a little intimidating. There is always that fear of the unknown. When one of my friends told me that she used them all I imagined was thin white pieces of fabric that you folded into shape and attached with cloths pins. I had no idea how far they had come and just how easy they were to use. Happy Heinys has in my opinion the most user friendly ones on the market. I have available their newest diaper, the one size all in one with snaps. This means that you don't have to invest in different sizes or a cover. It adjusts to fit a baby 8 pounds to 35 pounds. I chose to carry the style with snaps instead of velcro because I believe the snaps keep the diaper in better condition longer. Which means even more saved money! According to babyfit.com you can save anywhere from $1,200 to $2,100 by choosing to use cloth diapers for 2 years. Not to mention the impact you will make on the environment. Disposable diapers take 500 years to decompose! Even though you will be using energy and water to wash your cloth diapers it is still the more eco-friendly way to go. The Canadian Cloth Diaper Association says, "disposable diapers consume 70 percent more energy than the average reusable diaper per diaper change but the extra water required to wash cloth diapers is actually less than the amount of water it takes to produce disposable diapers." And if you have a baby with super sensitive skin like mine then cloth diapers are a must. The chlorine and numerous other chemicals in disposables can be extremely irritating to their delicate skin. There are reports of those chemicals being linked to asthma and male impotence as well.

If your ready to give cloth diapering a try I recommend getting a dozen along with a wet bag to keep dirty ones in when your out and a laundry detergent that is compatible with cloth diapers. Happy Heiny's recommends Tide, Country Save, Allen's to name a few. You can get a full list of care instructions on their website by clicking here.
