Eco-Friendly Christmas

There is nothing better than the smell of a fresh Christmas tree and they seem to be a much better option over a fake tree if you are looking to have an eco-friendly Christmas this year.  Country Living magazine has some good reasons why.

~Artificial trees are not biodegradable and stay in landfills for centuries.

~They are made with PVC which releases harmful dioxins into the air while being manufactured.

~The majority of fake trees are made overseas and the process of importing them generates high levels of carbon dioxide emissions.

~There is no need to worry about deforestation with real Christmas trees because most are from farms who plant them specifically to be Christmas trees.

~They are typically a low-pesticide crop too.

~Buying real is a great way to support local agriculture. Picking your own Christmas tree from a farm can be a fun adventure for the family too.

*Be sure to recycle your tree at the end of the season.  You can find a recycling center close to you here.
