Camp Erin

Camp Erin is a unique camp for children ages 6-17 who have lost loved ones. It's facilitated by grief counselors who help children through the grieving process by memorializing their lost loved ones. Along with normal camp activities the children have counseling sessions. I think one of the greatest benefits of the camp is that children are able to meet other children who are also experiencing grief and see that it is completely normal to feel the way they do.

According to the organization 1 in 20 children will loose a parent by the time they graduate high school. That lose can often times result in depression, substance abuse, poverty or suicide. There are currently 28 camps in 18 states and children can attend free of charge. If you are interested in learning more click here.
